It’s time for another fab episode of Fans On The Run! This episode is a bit of a reunion of sorts, with special guest Lonnie Peña! We talk Beatles promotional items, the lost joys of Beatle flea-market hunting, working on new music, working in his dad’s car shop to buy 45s, paying tons for bootlegs before somebody else can buy ‘em, Lonnie’s poster collection, an interpretation of my theme song, buying (some) butcher cover(s), and much more!

This episode is available to stream wherever good podcasts can be heard!

Knock knock! Who’s there? A new episode of Fans On The Run, that’s who! Joining me today is the brains behind the @cynthialennondaily Instagram page, and the host of the ‘She Loves You’ podcast: Natalia Cardenas!

We talk about the differences between older Gen Z Beatle fans and younger Gen Z Beatle fans, Beatle authors I’m afraid of, our fathers giving us both thumbsticks with the same set of Beatles recordings (of questionable legality!), ‘The Beatles RockBand’, a very curious Peruvian pressing of ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, Beatle fandom in the age of the Instagram, trying to describe the women in The Beatles’ story in a single word, favourite Kinks songs, and what made Cynthia Lennon so special.

Friday doesn’t only mean the start of the weekend; it means it’s time for another new episode of Fans On The Run! My guest today is the co-host of ‘BC The Beatles’, Erika White!

We talk about being in the audience of the ‘Get Back’ concert film, the mystery of the paper bag that housed the ‘Two Virgins’ album, a cherished doll head, imagining a parallel universe where the butcher cover was never recalled, a Beatle autograph family heirloom, the male bias of Beatle academia, Super Mario Bros 2, the ugly covers of the 1980 Capitol budget reissues of ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Music’ and a FoTR exclusive (for now) story surrounding The Ed Sullivan Show!

Welcome back to another fab, gear (and all the other pimply hyperboles) episode of Fans On The Run! Joining me today is history professor and author of the book ‘Joy and Fear: The Beatles, Chicago and the 1960s’, John F. Lyons!

We talk about some of the underground magazines in Chicago, WLS (the World’s Largest Store/World’s Loudest Station) and it’s role in Beatlemania, the origins of the infamous ‘Plaster Caster’, dragging along the family on vacation to libraries for Beatle research, the first time his brother ever showed him an LP, what the inspiration for ‘Joy and Fear’ was, early Beatle books, and the treasure-trove of obscure Beatle interviews from 60s magazines. All that and much more! After this week, FoTR will transition over to a bi-weekly format, with the next episode coming on May 14th.

To borrow a TV term welcome to a "spin-off"!
This is a monthly installment where two music geeks (Andy & Ethan) discuss their favourite albums by artists other than the Beatles. (What a refreshing idea!)
As we are both hardcore Who fans (Ethan = 60s Who, Andy = 70s Who) we decided our first show should center in on the Who's 3rd studio LP "The Who Sell Out". Tying in with the recently released Super Deluxe Box Set celebrating the album we felt this was a good starting point.
We also discuss the post "Sell Out" but pre-Tommy period of 1968 and what an odd ball period it was for the group.
We may actually like the jingles better than the songs! Impersonations, accents, bad singing it's all here.

It’s Friday, so it can only mean one thing, it’s time for another episode of Fans On The Run!

Joining me today is a longtime music journalist, and author of the ‘Let It Be’ installment of the 33 1/3 series of books, Steve Matteo! We cover a lot of topics including the joys of Graham Nash, the age old fear of the tape recorder not working during an important interview, lavish box sets from John Mayall and King Crimson, a cancelled 2004 DVD release of the ‘Let It Be’ film, the slow collapse of The Beatles and their inner circle, the Shea Stadium concert recording and why it hasn’t been released properly in a long time, potential dream Beatle releases, the pack mentality of the music press, and in a roundabout way, the first ever FoTR call in!

This episode is available to stream wherever good podcasts can be heard!

No rest for the wicked, Fans On The Run is back! Joining me as my guest for today is a fan, an author and one of very few outsiders to appear on a Beatle record, Lizzie Bravo! We talk about camping out in the cinema to watch a Beatles film clip over and over, moving to London in February of 1967 because of the fabulous foursome, spending her free time hanging around EMI Studios, being in the audience for the Hendrix concert at the Saville two days after Pepper’s release, her story of how she got to be on the Across The Universe recording, meeting Paul at his house to borrow a tape player, and much more! Much, much more!

I recently had the opportunity to sit down again with my friend “Whispering Bob” Harris for another wonderful chat! We talked about the sixties British pirate radio stations, the last radio performance of Syd Barrett, the origins of the Time Out magazine, the vinyl release of Stand By Me 2020, a trivia game about Bob’s favourite record label, and much more! Check it out, why don’t you?

It’s time for another episode of Fans On The Run, and sadly it’s gonna be the last for about a month! I’ll be taking a much needed break, and not use my vocal chords the entire duration of it (or something like that). That being said, today’s (should have been yesterday, but oh well) episode is a great one. Joining me is the host of New England’s Breakfast With The Beatles, Cha-Chi Loprete! We talk about gifted butcher covers, mailing records to George Harrison to be signed, the expensive (for 1970) “All Things Must Pass” box, dinner at John Eastman’s house with Paul, how he got started in radio, the DJs he remembers that inspired him, and so much more! Much like James Bond, FoTR will return.
